Our Story
Cat White Media is a digital first independent media company in South Africa, born out of necessity during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. We never planned to start a media agency, but the times forced our hand. We quickly grew into a newsroom, agency and training centre.

What We Do
Today, Cat White Media:
- Produces impactful journalism.
- Drives cross-border collaborations that connect stories across regions.
- Trains journalists worldwide to stay at the forefront of new media innovations shaping every industry.
- Partners with organisations to make news more accessible in the digital age.
From international TV inserts to TikTok explainers, we remain true to our roots: independent, innovative, and committed to freedom of expression.
How We Work
We are a small team of journalists and creatives. The lockdown prepared us for a life of remote working. Internet connection? Sorted! We work online from all corners of the world, constantly moving and travelling. Our team has never all been in-person at the same place at the same time. Our remote flexibility works and we can go wherever the story takes us.
Our Perspective
Every news publisher has an angle; an approach, and some kind of intrinsic bias. Journalists are meant to be impartial, but we know that true neutrality does not exist. That’s why we are clear about our values and our approach.
We tell stories from the Global South. This does not make us “anti-West.” It makes us pro-South; pro the future of the South and of the African continent.
We do not deny the struggles of communities, but we also do not believe the world should function entirely according to Western ideologies. Africa holds the key to the future, and the voices, struggles, and resilience of its people deserve to be heard on global platforms.

The Social Reality
People follow those they like and trust, not always the facts. Online influence is the most powerful force on the planet because it spills over into real-world decisions. And here’s the catch: “winning” people’s trust has very little to do with truth. It’s about how relatable and followable you are.
The more you hear something, the more you believe it. Some followers even feel like they personally know the creators they follow, simply because of all the time they think they spend with them by watching their content.
Some influencers are followed for their lavish lifestyles. Others for being down to earth. There are endless techniques and constant new ways to package content. Untrained “social journalists” are dominating the storytelling space and that’s because they are doing something right.
As journalists, we aren’t just selling the truth anymore. We’re selling relatability! That’s why journalists and media houses need to invest in training and the future of journalism.
At Cat White Media, that’s exactly what we do. We tell stories that are relatable, accessible, and rooted in truth and we help others do the same.
You don’t always need someone to ‘do the job’ for you. You just need the right person to help you bring your own creativity to light.
If you have a story that deserves to be heard or if you want guidance and training to make your own impact online, reach out. I’d love to personally jump on a call and see if we can help. It would be great to connect and understand what is and isn’t working for you.
